The Bardic Tale behind the Storyteller
John David Hickey ("Hobbes")has been telling fables, folktales, and legends for over 15 years. He delights in telling stories from all over the world, but has a particular fondness for quirky, underdog stories.
David has an animated, energetic telling style that appeals to both children and adults. He has performed in schools, libraries, pubs, cafes, and various festivals across Canada. He lives in Montreal, Quebec and tells tales in English and in French.
In 2005, David and his friend Dylan published a book/CD called "You Don't Know Jack" that featured six stories about a young boy who helped ghosts, battled giants, and lied to the King.
In November 2008, Dave started posting his recorded performances to his blogcast. You can listen these streamed stories by visting the Shortening the Road blogcast.
In June 2010, Dave recorded his second CD of stories called "The Bard's New Hat", which is a collection of his favourite recordings from past couple of years.
